5 Days & Counting
Yesterday was a travel day for me. Started at 9:30 am and got into my hotel room around 01:30 am this morning. Got to watch Wild Card, Seventh Son, Robot Overlords & Project Almanac during the flight over. Depending on how early I can go to bed on Thursday I might have to sleep on the flight to Stockholm so I am not tired on Saturday for the Stockholm Swimrun.
It’s a scary but at the same time an exciting feeling. I was forced to pack for a race 6 days in advance, so now come Thursday/Friday I won’t be overwhelmed with what to pack. I arrive in Stockholm around 2 pm and if for some reason would notice that I am missing something I think I can find a replacement in town. Or if I am lucky I realize it Thursday night and can ask Fredrik to take it up to Stockholm on the train.
Hoping to get to the hotel by 5 pm today so I can get some sun. Depending on the plan after work with my colleagues I might even try to get in a quick run, otherwise I will save my workouts for the mornings since we have pick up at 8:45 I have all the time in the work to run before an 8 am breakfast.
Christmas in June
It is not something that you see everyday, but my wife was witness.
The reaction of two regular guys in their fourties opening a package full of Swimrun gear from TYR Sweden.

A summary of Dec and a look back on 2014
For the 4th month in a row, training has been an after thought, last minute planning thing to squeeze in. But not because the desire to work out was not there, but my new tattoo caused me to miss a swim practice, then another Sunday I stood on the side to coach my newbies and help them get updated base times for this winter/spring swim training. I missed then a few more swim practices because of another week in Dubai and then it was Christmas break. But there was no good reason for me not to run or bike more. I did manage to get more time in the gym in December than I did the rest of the year.
My December had the least amount of training since Sept 2013 when I broke my collarbone.

Oct & Nov Training Summary
With two weeks of travel in both Oct and Nov, my planned rest during Sept has turned into three months of cosy, feel good training. However, I have been more active this Sept-Nov compared to last year. And with only one plan trip in Dec I am hoping to finish off the year strong.

Swedish Long Course Nationals in Falkenberg
This morning I did my second real WoD. Maybe not the best timing, but I am so out of shape there is nothing I can do now that will help or hurt me.
Tomorrow I pick up a van, and then four of my teammates will head to Falkenberg, 180 km away, for the Swedish LCM National Championships.
I am taking a step back from going all in and swimming all the individual events, this time I will only swim eight races over three sessions.
Dubai, Oman, Höstsimiaden & Swedish Nationals this week…
This turned out to be longer than I planned.
On the 12th of Nov I traveled back to Dubai. It was my longest trip away from home since before Viola was born. After traveling all day wednesday I had a 12 hour work day visiting our potential new supplier on Thursday. Since the hotel gym is open 24 hours I enjoyed a late work out to clear my mind.
The Emirates weekend is Friday-Saturday, but with my office working as usual on Fridays I decided to work out of the hotel. Around 16:00 local time I turned my computer off and was ready for my one day off. I went to the gym for nearly 3 hours. Man it felt so good to workout two days in a row.
Pushing myself to max is not natural for me.
One would think, that trying to be the best and pushing my body to its limits and then beyond would come natural to me since I have been competing since I was 6 yrs old. Surprise surprise, no it’s not. I am one of the laziest athletes you will ever meet.
Pushing myself to max is not something that comes naturally for me. I have almost always been that guy who does the minimum needed to get by. Whether it was sports or school, I did what was asked of me, I did it well, but I was not that guy who did that little extra. This became very apparent to me when I started lifting weights in college. I had no problems lifting 70-85% of my max in sets of 12-15 reps. But as we started to go from 90% up to max or a new max, I was not as driven as others. However, if I have a coach standing next to me, I would go that little extra trying not to disappoint my coach.
