Last night Jeanette and I watch Unbroken. A really good feel good movie. It really got me thinking about what type of person on a lifeboat I would be, what role in a POW camp I would take, could I mentally survive?

Dubai – Home away from home
Well it was made official today. I am heading back to Dubai. This will be my fourth visit in just three months. This time for nine nights. The only good part of this trip, is there are only two days that I know I need to work overtime, Sunday and Sunday. Monday through Thursday will be office hours 9 am-6 pm. And I will finally have time over to enjoy Dubai.

My 2015 Challenges…
I thought about posting my goals, but for me 2015 is going to be not just setting goals and working to achieve them, but setting goals and challenging myself to push my limits.

A summary of Dec and a look back on 2014
For the 4th month in a row, training has been an after thought, last minute planning thing to squeeze in. But not because the desire to work out was not there, but my new tattoo caused me to miss a swim practice, then another Sunday I stood on the side to coach my newbies and help them get updated base times for this winter/spring swim training. I missed then a few more swim practices because of another week in Dubai and then it was Christmas break. But there was no good reason for me not to run or bike more. I did manage to get more time in the gym in December than I did the rest of the year.
My December had the least amount of training since Sept 2013 when I broke my collarbone.

Happy New Year!
I just got back from a fun filled three day trip with my girls at Lalandia in Rodby, Denmark.
The past four months I’ve been a real family man. Since the last race of my season in the beginning of September, I’ve cut my training time by nearly 75%. Not at all according to my Fall plan. But not waking up at 05:00 and working out or going to work early so i could workout at lunch as opened the door to other activities. I’ve dropped the girls off at school almost everyday I’ve worked in town, and I’ve been with them for a majority of there after school activities. No one would dare say that I don’t do enough around the house either, well maybe Jeanette who expects the house to be clean 100% of the time 😉
40 and a day
So I’m officially 40 yrs old!
10 years ago I would have told you it’s all down hill from here. But moving to Växjö and being exposed to Masters swimming, Triathlon and everyone involved has opened my eyes to another world. I know now as long as I stay healthy I’ve got another 20+ years of training and racing to look forward to.
Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve in Sweden is the day swedes celebrate Christmas. Families will travel near and far to gather before the annual showing of Disney clips on national tv, then eat a three course Christmas buffet (Julbord) followed by a visit from Santa! Very different from my childhood, but fun for the kids.
Our girls get two Christmas celebrations since they also wake up to find Santa even stopped by our house because he “forgot” to leave all the gifts the night before.
And now it’s time for nearly three weeks of Vacation….
It’s Monday and I am officially on vacation until January 8th. Funny it does not seem like vacation. I was up at 06:15 and raced to the office to leave some information to a colleague, I have checked email, made a phone call, and will continue to work until all of my emails have been answered or forwarded before shutting down my work computer for the day. I don’t mind be available for my projects. To me it is a good feeling knowing that I am needed.
Luckily for me the little ones have camped out upstairs so I can be more efficient with getting work done.
ps summer vacation is 100x better than winter vacation in Sweden.
Home from Duabi in time for my 40th Open House Birthday Party
So Friday I traveled home from Dubai for the last time this year. The airport was crazy since all of the western ex-pats were also heading home for the holidays and/or visa renewals. I decided to go to the airport 3 hours before my flight. It took me less than an hour to check in my bag, go through security and passport control. Picked up some breakfast and then sat around and waited for nearly 2 hours at the gate. Luckily for me a co-worker was also heading home so we could keep each other company.
