So yesterday’s Movember was a blast. I thought I managed 8 of 10 Rx but today realized I scales 3 WODs.
The below picture was the starting list. Starting at 15:00 we had a 20 minute time cap and 30 minutes between starts. So the faster you finished the more rest you got.
We start the day off with Nancy. Technically I guess this one should be scaled too, because I rowed instead of ran. This first WoD was a really good warm up. I like OHS and rowing is something I like.
Nancy
Five Rounds for Time:
400 meter row
15 Overhead squat 43kg
At 15:30 we started Annie. Since I can only do 1-2 DUs at a time, I decided to do double the amount of single unders. I was the last one finsihed, I don’t think it was because of my speed on the jump rope, but how long it took me to do all of the sit-ups. Slight cramping in my upper abs in the set of 40 that stuck with me the rest of the day…
Annie (scaled – Single unders instead of double)
For time:
100 Single unders
50 Sit-ups
80 Single unders
40 Sit-ups
60 Single unders
30 Sit-ups
40 Single unders
20 Sit-ups
20 Single unders
10 Sit-ups
16:00 was the start of Grace. I had done this one a few weeks back at 50kg, and decided today I could manage Rx. I managed 12 reps before I took a short pause, then another 13 reps, before one last breather and finished all 30 reps under 5 minutes.
Grace
30 Reps for Time:
Clean and Jerk 60 kg
16:30, since Jackie required a row machine we split up into heats of four. I was in the last heat. I rowed at an easy 1:50/500m pace as to not get winded. I was able to do the Thrusters 25, 15 and 10, but the pull ups was 6x 5 reps.
Jackie
For Time:
1,000 Meter Row
50 Thrusters 20kg
30 Pull-Ups
17:00 was the WoD I was least looking forward to, Karen. I do not care for Wall Balls, and the tension they cause in my lower back usually stays for the rest of the day. I really thought I was going to be able to manage 10x 15 reps, but after the first two sets of 15, I quickly went over to sets of 10. a few weeks ago with a 6kg ball it took just over 9 minutes. Today with a 9kg ball just under 12 minutes. So I am making some progress.
Karen
For Time:
150 Wall balls – 9kg/3m
At 17:30 a few new members show up for the second half of the day, but most of those that started the day are still going strong. Up now Helen. I can not remember the last time I did Helen, but I know it was not with a 24kg kettle bell. By now my lower back is nearly dead. My stomach is starting to hate me, and my hands getting rawer with every grip of a bar I take. For all three rounds I managed to do the KB swings 12+12 and the pull ups 4x 3 reps.
Helen
3 Rounds for Time:
400 meter row
21 Kettlebell Swings 24 kg
12 Pull-ups
18:00 and only 4 WoDs left for the day. Since I really wanted to try Diane with 100kg, I had to scale Isabel to 40kg. I know I could have managed 60kg, but it would have taken nearly 15 minutes and I might not have been able to continue with the remaining WoDs. The first 15 reps flew by. I can hear the others around me dropping the weights and I don’t feel I am falling behind. I take a quick break to wipe the sweat off my face, then push out another 10 reps. Stop again to wipe my forehead and then finish the final 5 reps. As I drop to the floor I see David has been done for a while, and Tomak asks, are you done already?!!? Maybe I should have challenged myself with 50 or 60kg..
Isabel (scaled – 40kg instead of 60kg)
30 Reps for Time:
Snatch 40kg
18:30 and the heaviest WoD of the day. Not knowing if my shoulder could manage 45 reps of Rx HSPUs, I used one ab mat. Saving 3-5cm. The 100kg deadlift is more than I usually use in a WoD, but it was not all that bad. I did them all as singles and not very much extra rest, but the HSPUs were done as reps of 4-5 each time. on the final 9 it was 3×3.
Diane (scaled – 1 mat for HSPUs)
21-15-9 Reps for Time:
Deadlift 100 kg
Handstand push-ups
19:00 and we are only two WoDs from the end. This time Elizabeth, a new WoD for me. The Cleans at 60kg were no real problem for me. I managed to do them with little to no extra rest, but the ring digs I had to do 3 reps at a time. My shoulders and wrist could not handle doing more than 3 at a time…
Elizabeth
21-15-9 Reps for Time:
Clean 60 kg
Ring Dips
19:30 and the last WoD of the day! I have never been good at Fran. with 20kg I still need over 5 minutes. As the last WoD of 10, and using 42.5kg I was happy that we had a 20 minute time cap. I manage the first thrusters 3x 7 reps, but now my hands are really tired and hurting. I force myself through the pull-ups with sets of 3, but with lots of rest between. I manage the 15 thrusters 8+7 and the final 9 with 5+4. I know I beat the 20 minute time cap, but I was also still on my 9 thrusters when everyone else was finished.
Fran
21-15-9 Reps for Time:
